2th floor special exhibition Room
Exhibitions that explore the activities of minä perhonen through the word "tsugu"
minä perhonen, a fashion and textile brand that will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2025.
The creation of minä perhonen begins with the textile designs that are handcrafted by the designer. Through repeated dialogue, trial and error, and ingenuity with skilled artisans, the designs are transformed into a single piece of cloth, clothing, and various interior products. This exhibition introduces the activities through which we have created unique products while exploring what it means to be a brand that will last for 100 years, featuring valuable original drawings and textiles, as well as embroidery, weaving, printing factories, and more. It is an exhibition where you can experience the way of craftsmanship of minä perhonen, which pursues universal value without being influenced by trends.
[minä perhonen]
The brand originated from "minä," established in 1995 by designer Akira Minagawa (1967-). Based on the concept of "special everyday wear" that possesses universal value and can be worn for many years, unaffected by trends, the brand continues its unique manufacturing process, creating products from original fabrics while maintaining deep relationships with fabric production areas throughout Japan. Starting with fashion with the desire to be "a brand that lasts at least 100 years," its activities have gradually expanded to include interiors, tableware, food, accommodations, and other aspects of lifestyle and hospitality.
