The Rare Old Age and Beyond
Tuesday, February 2025, 5 – Sunday, May 13, 8
Tuesday, May 13, 2025 – Sunday, August 3, 2025
Kamijo Shinzan Memorial Gallery
“Koki” is a term that represents the age of seventy, and it comes from a verse in “Qujiang” by Du Fu during China’s Tang dynasty: Man seldom lives to be seventy years old. Compared to the days when living seventy years was rare, we could now say the seventies and eighties are truly the golden age of life.
This spring, in conjunction with the historic tenth and final “The older we are, the younger we feel” exhibition (being held April 26 to June 1 2025), we are exhibiting pieces created by Kamijo Shinzan after the age of seventy. Have a look at the soul of an artist who continued to challenge himself more enthusiastically than ever and to pursue “the beauty of calligraphy”.
