Kamijo Shinzan Memorial Gallery and Tamura Kazuo Memorial Gallery
This exhibition from our collection presents recent acquisitions from 2023 along with representative works from the museum’s existing collection.
Debuting as recent acquisitions are Japanese style paintings by Yajima Shiori and three-dimensional pieces by Nakajima Aki, both of whom were artists featured in Parco de Bijutsukan*, as well as a watercolor painting by Ishii Hakutei and an oil painting by Takigawa Taro. These invaluable works offer an exploration of the history of art in Matsumoto.
We hope you will enjoy the collection and find the Matsumoto City Museum of Art more fulfilling than ever.
※"Parco de Bijutsukan"
An exhibition held on the sixth floor of Matsumoto Parco while the museum was closed for rennovations in 2021. Featuring a number of genres such as painting, sculpture, photography, and illustration, it focused on a dozen living artists up to their 6’s with deep connections to the Matsumoto plains.
