Ikegami Hyakuchiku-tei Collection
The Ikegami Hyakkutei Collection is a collection of works by the Matsumoto City writer IkegamiKisakuThis collection consists of 221 items, mainly modern literary materials, which were collected by the late author (penname: Hyakuchikutei) over the course of his life.
This time, we will introduce the works of Hyakusui Hirafuku (1877-1933). Hyakusui was a Japanese painter from Akita Prefecture. He studied under Gyokusho Kawabata and later became a painter who advocated naturalism.Silent SocietyHe participated in the exhibitions such as the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions, and was highly praised for his ideas and techniques. He was also known for his many illustrations for newspapers and magazines, which gained him popularity.sectionHe interacted with poets and later became active as a poet in the Araragi school.
Kisaku Ikegami began collecting paintings after encountering Hyakusui's work. Kisaku acquired one of Hyakusui's paintings, Willows by the Waterside, which he loved so much that he wanted to acquire Hyakusui's masterpiece. Kisaku developed a close relationship with Hyakusui and commissioned her to create a new piece, and in 1928 (Showa 3), she delivered him her masterpiece, Sounds of the Pine Trees and Spring.
