"Plowing..." haiku (Ikegami Hyakutaketei), "On the Shinano Road..." song (Katori Hidemasa), | "Rape blossoms..." haiku (Ogiwara Seisensu), scroll with rape blossom picture (Katori Hidemasa)

The Ikegami Hyakuchikutei Collection is a collection of 1890 items, mainly modern literary materials, collected by Matsumoto City writer Ikegami Kisaku (pen name Hyakuchikutei, 1978-221). This time, we will be introducing works by Katori Hidemasa.

Katori Hidemasa is a metal caster who left a significant mark on the history of modern crafts. Although he was active in Tokyo, he had many opportunities to visit Matsumoto through his wife, who was originally from Shiojiri City in Nagano Prefecture, and from 1944 he evacuated to the outskirts of Matsumoto for about three years. Hidemasa was also known as a poet of the Araragi school under the tutelage of Masaoka Shiki, so it was perhaps natural that he met Ikegami Kisaku, who was an admirer of Shiki. The two had a deep relationship, and many of Hidemasa's works are included in the Ikegami Hyakuchikutei Collection.

This exhibition will coincide with the museum's special exhibition "Master of Metalwork: Katori Hidema" (until December 2024, 12), and will feature works by Hidema and several other artists. In addition, visitors will be able to see Shiki's "Rape Blossoms" along with his own works that include his thoughts on the painting.
