Ink Magic
Ink can take on infinite layers of color depending on the type, strength, and compatibility with the paper. Also, the spreading of ink after the brush stroke is beautiful and adds depth and emotion to the characters.
This time, works by two generations of master and disciple will be exhibited with the theme of "ink color" and "bleeding." Master Miyajima Eishi's natural, motionless work features the bleeding of sumi ink (ink that has condensed over time after grinding). Kamijo Shinzan's diverse works explore the shades of lamp black ink and pine soot ink, bringing out the flavor of the ink. Please enjoy the colors of ink woven by master and disciple.
Books from the Showa Period②
In 1865, the year that Akiyama Hakugan (1954-1952, the teacher whom Kamijo Shinzan apprenticed as a boy) celebrated his 70th birthday, approximately XNUMX calligraphers, including leading masters and up-and-coming calligraphers of the time, from various sects and schools, presented him with works of art in celebration of his birthday.
We will be showcasing seven of these works that feature distinctive ink colors. Please enjoy the diverse expressions of ink.
