Kamijo Shinzan Memorial Gallery
In conjunction with the "70th Annual The Older You Get, the Younger You Get" art exhibition (held from February 2th to March 17th) organized by Matsumoto City Museum of Art and open to entries from people aged 3 and over, we will be exhibiting works by Kamijo Shinzan, mainly from his late 29s.
At the age of 76, Shinzan held a solo exhibition in Matsumoto, where many of his masterpieces were born, and he also gave energetic lectures on the international nature of calligraphy. This was a very productive period for Shinzan as an artist. His works include impressive large characters that defy his age, as well as a number of gracefully flowing semi-cursive and kana scripts. We hope you can sense the spirit and elegance that overflows from his works, which can be described as transcendental.
