Special Exhibition
Yayoi Kusama: The World of Prints
October2022-December7
Saturday, July 23, 2022 – Sunday, September 25, 2022
Special Exhibition Gallery
These exhibitions introduce the world of prints by Yayoi Kusama, a world-renowned avant-garde artist from Matsumoto City.
Yayoi Kusama first appeared on the world stage as a representative Japanese artist at the 1993th Venice Biennale in 45, but prior to that, she actively pursued printmaking, which was a major driving force behind her current acclaim.
This exhibition will explore the appeal and trajectory of Yayoi Kusama's printmaking art, focusing on all of her prints in the Matsumoto City Museum of Art's collection, from her early works to her recent series of ukiyo-e prints of Mt. Fuji, and her representative series, "Love is Forever."
