October2025-December4
Saturday, April 26, 2025 – Sunday, June 1, 2025
Matsumoto City Museum of Art 2nd floor special exhibition room
The art exhibition "The Older You Get, the Younger You Get," which began in 2004 and is open to entries from people aged 70 and over, is now celebrating its 10th anniversary.
This open call exhibition began with the slogan, "We sought from 'Okina' a world that is not gorgeous but beautiful, a world that is not huge but strong, a world that does not have technique but goes beyond technique, another kind of art that cannot be reduced to painting methods or theories." I would like to see a world that can only be depicted by growing older. Many people agreed with this idea, and the number of submitted works totaled 10 in all 4,654 sessions.
This exhibition marks the end of "The Older You Get, the Younger You Get"20This marks the end of a history spanning 100 years.10This exhibition will be the first and last in this open competition to be held in an "independent" format, in which all submitted works that meet the requirements will be exhibited.
here you go,70Please enjoy the flawless world created by people aged 18 or over.
(*)The word "ten'i muhou" (unbleached heavenly maiden) refers to the fact that the robes of heavenly maidens are completely seamless, and therefore writings and paintings should be natural and unpretentious. It also refers to a person's personality being unadorned, pure, innocent, and carefree.
