Special Exhibition
The 70th Art competition by people who are over XNUMX The older we are, the younger we feel
October2023-December2
Saturday, February 18, 2023 – Sunday, March 26, 2023
Special Exhibition Gallery
This open exhibition, which requires applicants to be 70 years of age or older, was first held in 1 with the aim of "seeking a world that is not gorgeous but beautiful, not huge but strong, not technical but beyond technical, another kind of art that cannot be reduced to painting methods or theories" (*2004). Since then, it has been held every two years, and this is the ninth time it has been held. This exhibition will display 44 award-winning and selected works selected by a jury from 481 works submitted from 110 prefectures across Japan.
Each artist poured their energy into their work, which depicts different themes such as the joy of living, anxieties about society, and happy memories with family and loved ones, and uses a variety of techniques such as oil painting and Japanese painting. However, what they all have in common is that the humanity of the artist, who has aged over the years, is conveyed directly to the viewer's heart. Appreciating these unique paintings is also a dialogue with the artist. Enjoy the free-spirited (※110) worlds depicted by these 2 artists.
(※1) From the purpose of the first exhibition.
(※2) "Teni Muhou" refers to the fact that the heavenly maiden's clothes have no seams, and therefore the writing and paintings are natural and unpretentious. It also refers to a personality that is unpretentious, pure, innocent, and carefree. In keeping with the purpose of this exhibition, the Grand Prize winner has been named the "Teni Award" and the runner-up the "Muhou Award."
