Ikegami Hyakuchiku-tei Collection
The Ikegami Hyakuchikutei Collection is a collection of 221 items, mainly modern literary materials, collected by Matsumoto City writer Kisaku Ikegami (pen name Hyakuchikutei) over his lifetime. Many of the works were collected as Kisaku deepened his friendship with the writers. In some cases, Kisaku directly commissioned the works to be produced.
This time, we will introduce the works of artists from the Sango-kai group that are included in the collection. The Sango-kai was a group formed in 1915 (Taisho 4) centered around Japanese painters, and held 1924 exhibitions by 13 (Taisho 10). The group was made up of artists active in other fields, including not only Japanese painting but also Western painting, manga, and illustrations, and some members were deeply involved in haiku and haiga.
