Tamura Kazuo Memorial Gallery
Tamura Kazuo (1904-97) was a painter who was familiar with the mountains of Shinshu and loved the Japanese land.
This exhibition will introduce four subjects selected from Tamura's paintings spanning over 70 years. The first is Sakurajima, one of the mountains he continued to paint throughout his life, the second is landscapes with cherry blossoms that herald the arrival of spring, the third is the Hira Mountains in Shiga Prefecture, which he continued to cover from the late 1970s to around 80, and the fourth is the Misayama Plateau, which was a frequent subject of his paintings from his early period until his later years.
We hope that you will enjoy the Japanese landscapes captured through Tamura's unique perspective through his work.
