Kamijo Shinzan x Ikegami Hyakkutei x Tamura Kazuo Triple Attack! —A new encounter with the collection—

Matsumoto City Museum of Art has a collection of approximately 2,300 pieces (excluding secondary materials), including several collections that are made up of a large number of works and form the core of the museum.

In particular, the world of calligraphy pursued by Matsumoto-born Kamijo Shinzan, the works of Tamura Kazuo, a Western-style painter who loved and continued to paint mountains and plateaus, and the literary and artistic materials collected by Ikegami Kisaku are usually exhibited in each memorial room three times a year in a small lineup of in-depth themes. This time, these three collections will be displayed together in a larger exhibition space with higher ceilings, starting from the usual rooms, and loudly assert their respective charms. We will trace how the spirit that the two artists (Kamijo Shinzan and Tamura Kazuo) held throughout their lives was straightforward and brilliant, and how the Ikegami Hyakutaketei Collection showed how the writers expressed a pure playful spirit in life in a philosophical state of mind. The keyword underlying the exhibition of works is "light." Please feel the "light" that appears not only as a color or form, but also as something that penetrates the human heart, bright, peaceful, warm, and sometimes sharp and vivid.

We hope that you will be excited once again by the collection held at Matsumoto City Museum of Art.
