Welcome to the world of VFX
Yamazaki Takashi (1964-), a film director from Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, made his directorial debut with "Juvenile" in 2000. He is said to be a leader in "VFX (Visual Effects)," a type of film expression that makes full use of advanced visuals using CG. In 2005, he released "Always: Sunset on Third Street," which used VFX to express the heartwarming human kindness, vitality, and atmosphere of a Showa-era townscape, and won 29 out of 13 awards at the 12th Japan Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, making him a hot topic.
He has since released works such as "SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO," "Eternal Zero," and "DESTINY: The Tale of Kamakura." He is known for creating intricate images that are hard to believe are CG composites, and has received high praise in the field of 3DCG animation for his co-directorship of "STAND BY ME Doraemon." He has also written the scripts for many of his works, and with his directing skills that do not disappoint fans of the original work, he has created highly entertaining films that resonate with the hearts of Japanese people.
This exhibition will introduce the world of images created by Director Yamazaki through storyboards, design drawings, miniatures and costumes made for the film, life-size sets, the VFX production process, finished footage, etc. Please take a look at the exhibitions that will introduce Director Yamazaki's works from his debut work to his latest work.
