지금을 거슬러 올라가는 약 100년 전입니다. 일본 최초의 초등학교의 하나인 마츠모토·개치학교에서는, 교내의 일각으로 교육품이나 미술 작품을 모아 전시해, 일반에 공개한다는 행사가 있었습니다. 다이쇼의 중간 무렵이 되면, 미술 작품을 수집·공개하는 것의 의의를 분명히 주창해, 전문의 시설의 설치를 요망하는 소리가 올라옵니다. 지방의 일소도시에 있어서, 사회문화교육을 중요시하는, 당시의 국내의 모습으로부터 해도 선견적이고 뜻이 높은 요망이었다고 생각됩니다.

헤세이 29년에, Matsumoto City Museum of Art는 설립 개관으로부터 15주년을 맞이합니다. 우리는 100년 전의 뿌리를 소중히 하면서 조금씩 작품의 수장을 계속해 왔습니다.

이번 전시에서는, 당관의 컬렉션의 성립과 현재를, 몇개의 테마로부터 개관하고 싶습니다. 등장하는 작품의 개개의 매력을 차분히 맛보시면서, 「뮤지엄 피스」로서 소중하게 수장되어 온 유연에 생각해 주실 수 있으면 다행입니다.

It is now almost a hundred years since a small collection of education materials and artworks were displayed in Kaichi school, which was one of the first elementary schools in Japan. In the middle of the Taisho era, there was a strong voice advoca exhibition of art works, and a demand for establishments specialising in this. Attaching importance to cultural education now seems a bold and forward-looking step for a small provincial town.

Matsumoto City Museum of Art is approaching its fifteenth year, and to honour these roots from a hundred years ago, we are steadily acquiring works.

In this exhibition we would like to explore the origins and current state of our collection from different perspectives. We hope you will enjoy these various works, and appreciate why they became museum pieces.
